Insurance and Payment Options
Simple guidance before you book
We accept a variety of medical and vision plans and offer CareCredit for eyewear and services. If you’re unsure about coverage, call 603‑662‑0389 and we’ll help you verify benefits before your visit.
Medical vs. Vision — What’s the Difference?
Medical
Medical insurance may apply when a medical diagnosis or medically necessary testing is involved (e.g., diabetic eye changes, glaucoma suspicion) requiring you to submit directly to them. At this time, we are unable to bill your medical insurance.
Vision
Vision plans typically cover routine exams and prescription updates.
Medicare
Original Medicare generally does not cover routine refraction; some services may be covered when medically necessary. Secondary plans may vary.
CareCredit and Payment Options
Use CareCredit for eyewear and eligible services. We also accept major cards and HSA/FSA. Ask our team for details on estimates and financing options.
Carriers
Our accepted carrier list is updated regularly, and new contracts may be added. Please contact our office to confirm your specific plan and benefits.
Frequently Asked Questions About Insurance & Payment
How do I know if my exam will be billed to vision or medical insurance?
It depends on the nature of your visit. If you're coming in for a routine eye exam and prescription update with no symptoms or medical concerns, that's typically billed to your vision plan. However, if we discover or are monitoring a medical condition—like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye disease, or cataracts—those services are billed to your vision insurance, and will show up as a co-pay. If you would rather to pay out of pocket and then submit for re-imbursement to your medical insurance, that is your choice. Sometimes an exam starts as routine but becomes medical based on our findings, which will cause the exam to stop. If this should happen to you, we will refer you to an in-person Optometrist or Ophthalmologist which will bill your exam through your medical insurance. Should an exam be hard stopped due to a medical reason, you will not be charged for the exam by us.
Does Medicare cover eye exams?
Original Medicare Part B generally does not cover routine eye exams or refraction (the test that determines your glasses prescription). However, Medicare Part B may cover medically necessary eye exams if you have diabetes, are at high risk for glaucoma, or are being treated for an eye disease or condition at an in-person Optometrist. Many people have a Medicare Advantage plan or supplemental vision coverage that does cover routine exams. Because Medicare coverage can be confusing, we strongly recommend calling us at 603-662-0389 before your appointment so we can verify your specific benefits and let you know what to expect for out-of-pocket costs.

You can pay out-of-pocket at the time of service, and we'll provide you with a detailed receipt (called a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement—many plans will reimburse a portion of your costs. For eyewear, some vision plans offer allowances that can be used at any provider.
